Job Title: Business Development Manager.

Hours: 21 hrs (3 days) per week.

Contract: 18 months, fixed term (potential to extend subject to funding).

Working pattern: Part-time, flexible across the week.

Salary: £45,000 per annum (£27,000 pro rata).

Reports to: CEO.

About the role

We are looking for an ambitious and proactive Business Development Manager to help us build a more sustainable future for Hackney CVS and the wider voluntary and community sector.

Hackney CVS is an infrastructure charity at the heart of Hackney and the City of London’s voluntary and community sector. We work to strengthen community power, tackle inequality and bring more resources, influence and opportunities into local organisations.

Working closely with our Senior Leadership Team, you’ll identify and develop new income opportunities, increase core and unrestricted funding, support the growth of earned income, develop corporate partnerships and play a leading role in shaping the future of Hackney Giving. You’ll help turn ideas, relationships and opportunities into high-quality proposals, business cases and income-generating initiatives that support our mission and values.

This is an exciting opportunity to help develop innovative approaches to community giving, leverage local wealth and business engagement, explore opportunities linked to the City of London, and support a charity that is reimagining what equitable and impactful infrastructure looks like.

We’re looking for an experienced and entrepreneurial business development professional who can spot opportunities, assess their potential and turn them into tangible outcomes. You will have a strong track record of securing income and developing new opportunities within the voluntary and community sector, infrastructure organisations or a similar environment. Comfortable working across fundraising, corporate partnerships, individual giving and business development, you’ll be able to research new markets and income streams, develop compelling proposals and business cases, and manage a varied pipeline of opportunities from initial concept through to delivery. You will also have the judgment to prioritise where time and organisational effort should be focused to achieve the greatest impact.

You’ll be equally comfortable working independently and collaboratively, bringing the drive to move opportunities forward while working closely with senior leaders and colleagues across the organisation.

We are looking for someone with excellent communication skills who can translate strategic ideas and relationships into practical opportunities and sustainable income. Most importantly, you’ll have a strong understanding of the voluntary and community sector and the vital role that equitable infrastructure plays in supporting communities, alongside a clear commitment to tackling structural racism and inequality and ensuring that resources and opportunities reach those communities that need them most.

The role is offered for 3 days a week, on an 18-month fixed-term basis, with the possibility for extension subject to funding.
