Help shape the future of support for Hackney’s voluntary and community sector

Hackney Council is inviting voluntary and community sector organisations to join one of its events about future infrastructure funding. Following its grants redesign last year, the council is taking the next step in how it funds and supports the local voluntary and community sector (VCS) infrastructure.

Bejal Shah, CEO of Hackney says: “It is vital that local organisations shape not only what support is available to Hackney’s voluntary and community sector, but provide their perspectives on how accessible, inclusive and effective it is in practice.”

“Through Hackney CVS’s insight gathering, organisations have shared valuable feedback about the infrastructure they need to thrive. Significant strengths, expertise and community leadership exist within Black and Global Majority-led and serving organisations. Despite this, disproportionate pressures and barriers to accessing tailored support, decision-making spaces and more, continue to perpetuate inequities.”

Bejal adds: “We are committed to using all of this evidence to continually develop our work, so we particularly encourage Black and Global Majority-led and serving organisations of all sizes, and delivering all services, to take part in these conversations and influence Hackney Council’s grant programme for infrastructure. We look forward to seeing you there!”

Three events will reflect on recent learning, share the sector’s needs and help co-design a brand-new VCS Infrastructure support package launching in 2027. Read more
