Hackney CVS appoints new Chief Executive Officer

Hackney CVS's new Chief Executive Officer

Following the departure of Jake Ferguson, our previous Chief Executive, Hackney CVS has been undertaking a search to find a new Chief Executive Officer.

Following a robust and rigorous selection process and careful deliberation, the Board of Trustees is delighted to announce that Anthony Wong (pictured) has been appointed as Hackney CVS’s new Chief Executive Officer. Tony has recently been acting as Interim CEO and will transition immediately into the role.

Tony steps up from his previous role as Director of Connect Hackney, and comes with a very strong track record in strategic leadership and programme management. He is passionate about tackling inequalities in Hackney, and has demonstrated a strong commitment to continuing the excellent relationships between HCVS, our stakeholders and the VCSE sector, further building on our ability to represent the diverse needs of the community.

Charles Middleton, Chair of Trustees, said: “We think that Tony is a capable, authentic leader, who really shares our values and will help us to continue to innovate in the work that we do. He brings an enormous amount of potential and will help us build on the important and impactful work that we already do”.

Anthony Wong said: “It’s an enormous privilege to be appointed as the new CEO at Hackney CVS. My time in the organisation has given me a strong connection to the community and I’m looking forward to extending and deepening our important relationships – with members, the sector and statutory partners. It is a challenging time for the VCSE sector, but just reflecting on what we’ve been able to achieve since HCVS’s humble beginnings, particularly when we look at the past 18 months alone since the onset of the pandemic, I’m more confident than ever about the important role that Hackney CVS can play in tackling social injustice.”
