Meet the new Neighbourhood Facililtators

Hackney CVS is excited to announce that two new Neighbourhood Facilitators have recently joined us to create a new Neighbourhood Forums team.

Aisha Peters is the new Facilitator for Clissold Park and Hackney Downs, seconded from Damali Beautiful Vision CIC – an organisation she founded which provides psychotherapy and support workshops to the Global Majority community navigating the sudden bereavement of a child or young adult. Aisha is a Hackney resident and qualified coach of over 12 years in her community, working with children and adults in the voluntary sector, as well as being a trainee counsellor.

Lola Malaolu brings over 18 years of experience working in the community to her new role as Neighbourhood Facilitator for London Fields and Shoreditch Park & City. Lola has worked as a Community Development Coordinator and Community Education Coordinator, and previously ran her own community organisation. Lola is also a Hackney resident, having lived in the borough for over 30 years.

Aisha and Lola have joined our two existing Neighbourhood Facilitators seconded to Hackney CVS.

Polly Mann leads on the Well Street Common and Hackney Marshes Neighbourhood Forums and has been the Community Development Coordinator at Wick Award, the Big Local organisation in Hackney Wick for over eight years, having previously worked on various place-based health programmes. Polly loves living and working in Hackney and for this she says she feels very lucky

Finn Keane-Conley is the Neighbourhood facilitator for Woodberry Wetlands and Springfield Park and helps to set up and run projects at the Redmond Community Centre. Finn grew up and still lives in nearby Haringey. She says “I love Hackney and all the amazing things it has to offer!”

The Neighbourhood Facilitators drive community engagement and collaboration within their two adjacent Neighbourhoods to identify local issues and co-produce solutions to address health inequalities, working with residents, service providers and statutory workers. The programme has now been restructured to include Action Groups in each Neighbourhood, which include residents and professionals. The groups meet regularly to take practical steps to address two agreed health and wellbeing priorities in the local area.

Forums or community events that align with the priorities are held in each Neighbourhood to connect residents with the voluntary and community sector, local authority and health and social care partners.

The Forums provide an accessible space to share health and wellbeing information, gather insights, and give residents a stronger voice.

Partnerships with Volunteer Centre Hackney and Healthwatch Hackney support resident engagement and collation of local insights and data.

Get involved

The Neighbourhood Forums give residents and people who work in Hackney a say about how to improve their health and wellbeing and remove barriers to local health and care services. Neighbourhoods are a great way to connect with others, discover what’s going on in your local area and play an active role in making changes to local services.

Email us vcsneighbourhoods@hcvs.org.uk to sign up to your local newsletter, find out what’s going on in your Neighbourhood and how you can get involved.

What is the Neighbourhoods programme?

Neighbourhoods is a place-based way of working that brings together residents, community groups, GP practices, health providers, social care and voluntary sector organisations into eight Neighbourhood areas to work collaboratively on what matters to local people with the aim of reducing health inequalities.

Each Neighbourhood is named after a local green space and includes four to seven GP practices who work as part of a team of local services to coordinate health and social care in the community.
