Launch event for the RISE employment service for refugees
Refugees and asylum seekers face multiple barriers to employment. These include language, poor wellbeing due to traumatic experiences, and a lack of recognition of their qualifications by UK employers. This means that unemployment in refugee communities is above 50%, compared to 6% for the UK national average. Higher refugee employment could bring considerable benefits to London’s economy, employers and communities.
RISE – Renaisi’s new employment service for refugees in London, aims to do something about this. To celebrate its launch, we are bringing together local authorities, third sector providers and employers from across the capital, to build new networks that will strengthen employment support for London’s refugees.
