Cervical Cancer Screening Service

North East London CCG (NELCCG) is looking to commission a project that aims to increase uptake of cervical cancer screening. This is to address City and Hackney’s low cervical cancer screening rates.

The project will aim to undertake a number of workshops to better understand the reasons for non-participation in the screening programme, and work with women between the ages of 25 and 49 to encourage attendance of cervical screening appointments through GP-endorsed reminder calls.

£25,000 is on offer to an organisation for this work. (A further £10,000 will be awarded to a primary care organisation to set-up tailored cervical screening clinics based on the outcomes of the workshops).

NELCCG is asking for any interested parties to submit detailed proposals that demonstrate how they would meet the aims of project:

  • Identify the barriers to women in attending for cervical smear tests
  • Propose ways of mitigating those barriers

If your organisation feels that there are elements of the project they will be unable to deliver within the budget allocated, please be aware that they will be open to considering proposals that aim to only deliver some core elements of the projects, providing there is reasonable justification for the reduced scope.

It will be important to include how many practices/PCNs you will be aiming to work with in order to identify the core reasons for women not attending including protected characteristics where appropriate.

Completed proposals should be sent to Helen Crane.

Deadline: 24 December. Download service specification
