SUMMARY:Making Her Mark: 100 Years of Women's Activism in Hackney
DESCRIPTION:East End Women’s Museum and Hackney Museum would like to invite you to the launch of the exhibition ‘Making Her Mark: 100 Years of Women’s Activism in Hackney’. \nIn 1918 most women over 30 gained the right to vote in parliamentary elections. But the story of women’s activism in Hackney doesn’t begin or end with the suffragettes. \nOver the past 100 years\, local women have brought about change in their community and in wider society through political campaigns\, industrial action\, peaceful protest\, direct action\, and the arts. \nRead more here. \n  \n

SUMMARY:LGBT History Month Launch
DESCRIPTION:You are invited to the launch of two exhibitions to mark LGBT History Month at Hackney Museum on 1 February: ‘From Bedroom to Battleground’ by Project Indigo and ‘Out and About’. \n‘From Bedroom to Battleground’ has been created by members of Project Indigo\, a local LGBTQI+ youth group run by Off Centre\, a mental health and wellbeing charity. Facilitated by artist Liv Wynter\, this exhibition shares the voices of Project Indigo members\, who hope that by opening up about their personal stories\, they can help teach people what it’s like to be young and LGBTQI+ in Hackney. \nRead more and register here.
