Deadline for this post has closed.

About Hackney Giving

Hackney Giving invests money from businesses, individuals and foundations in projects that make a lasting difference to the lives of people in the borough. Between 2014 – 2017 we raised over £300k for local community groups and charities.

Examples of projects we have funded include:

  • a music project for young disabled people
  • a gardening project for people living with HIV
  • self-defence and personal safety training for women
  • a therapeutic arts project for young people leaving care
  • a volunteering project for people experiencing mental health problems

We distribute funds through a small grants programme and through Hackney Giving Live – a crowdfunding event where charities pitch to a live audience. A Hackney Giving Live event will typically raise between £8-10k. (See film below).

The Development & Programme Manager

We have recently been awarded five years funding from City Bridge Trust. This very welcome support will allow us to revive Hackney Giving and deliver our renewed and ambitious vision of local giving.

  • Our vision is of a fairer borough where Hackney Giving is the ‘go to’ fund for corporate donors, SMEs and people living and working in Hackney
  • The funds raised by Hackney Giving will support the borough’s smaller grassroots charities and community groups, especially those working with minority ethnic and other marginalised groups.

As part of this vision we are looking for a creative, hardworking and experienced Development & Programme Manager.

About you

You will have  a passion for owning a programme and delivering successful outcomes. In particular, you will be skilled at:

  • fundraising from corporate donors, SMEs and local residents
  • networking and building effective working relationships
  • managing giving circles and volunteers
  • communicating – excellent interpersonal skills and strong writing skills
  • managing a grant giving programme
  • setting up new ways or working
  • creative events management and promotion.

Your ability to hit the ground running and to build productive relationships while engendering enthusiasm in Hackney Giving will be essential to the success of the project.

Hackney Giving is a programme at Hackney CVS, the umbrella body for the borough’s voluntary and community sector. We offer the opportunity to work with a well-established team in a very friendly, diverse and positive environment. Additional benefits include:

  • 25 days annual leave and additional leave days over Christmas
  • continual professional development
  • up to two weeks paid study leave per year
  • an employer pension contribution of 6%
  • cycle to work scheme.
