Hackney Giving

Hackney Giving

A great way to support your community

Hackney Giving is the local giving programme in the borough of Hackney, distributing funding provided by businesses, residents and the statutory sector to grassroots charities. The programme ran between 2014 and 2017 and was relaunched in 2020, shortly before the coronavirus pandemic.

Since then, we have focused entirely on supporting communities through the pandemic, and we have distributed over £2 million to frontline organisations in Hackney and the City of London, for a variety of purposes including the purchase of food and supplies, mental health support, and communication of messages from Public Health to communities who have barriers to accessing mainstream messaging about the pandemic, such as adults with sensory disabilities or learning disabilities, people who don’t speak English as a first language.

Live crowdfunding

Our live crowdfunder at Capco with The Funding Network on 22 June 2017 raised over £9.5k for grassroots local charities. Watch the film below to see how it works.
