DESCRIPTION:Active Citizens are individuals across the world who want to make a difference in their community. They are people and institutions established\, trusted and valued in the community – volunteers\, staff\, apprentices\, religious leaders\, politicians\, youth workers\, social entrepreneurs etc. They are influential and working to improve the lives of people living in their community. Through the programme they are equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to design and implement social action projects to tackle social issues in their community. \nShoreditch Trust is delivering the Active Citizens programme in partnership with the British Council. We are recruiting participants for the 2017/18 course which will take place from 20th November – 24th November 2017.

DESCRIPTION:This practical training session aims to provide an understanding of Data Protection Principles\, Data Sharing Protocols\, and Collection and Managing good quality data using the MS Access service user database. We have developed an MS Access database that will help you improve your data entry procedures\, recording\, storing and reporting.\n\n\nAre you still using excel spread sheets and finding it hard to cope with data ?\n Are you struggling with monitoring and evaluation of your projects ?\n Do you feel that your systems are not-compliant with data protection regulations? \nIf all this applies to you\, then this training session is the right one for you. \nThis session will cover how it is applied in practice and the importance of having such skills for organisations holding personal information on their service users and volunteers.\nWho is this aimed at? \nAnyone who has a degree of/overall responsibility for administration\, monitoring/evaluation\, data protection\, and reporting on projects and activities. It is also useful for others who want to broaden their understanding of these areas. DESCRIPTION:                        \n\n\n\n\nThis is an internationally recognised and certificated Youth Mental First Aid training delivered by certified Mental Health First Aid England instructors.\n\nDo you work with Young people in Hackney? \nDo you want to learn how to promote a young person’s mental and emotional wellbeing? \nThen attend this course which will provide you with the information\, tools\, and techniques you need to support a young person who might be experiencing mental and emotional distress. \nThe course is split into the following four sections:  \n\nWhat is mental health?\nDepression and anxiety\nSuicide and psychosis\nSelf-harm and eating disorders\n\nWithin each section\, there is a clear focus on the issues faced by young people\, including bullying/cyber-bullying and substance misuse. The course also teaches the importance of promoting well-being and protective factors. \nLearning outcomes\nEach section will teach you how to: \n\nSpot the early signs of a mental health issue in young people\nFeel confident helping a young person experiencing mental ill health\nProvide help on a first aid basis\nHelp protect a young person who might be at risk of harm\nHelp prevent a mental health issue from getting worse\nGuide a young person towards the right support\nReduce the stigma of mental health issues\n\nThe sessions will be a mix of presentations\, discussions\, and group work activities.
