Create Your Future: Supporting BAMER women
Create Your Future is a pre-employment project for Black, Asian, Minority Ethnic (BAME) women who are not working and not studying. This project is funded by The Big Lottery Fund and European Social Fund who support projects in England that tackle poverty and promote social inclusion.
This exciting new project aims to support women in Hackney to overcome barriers to employment, learn new skills and be sustained in meaningful work. The courses, which will be delivered by Hackney Marsh Partnership, Hackney Play Association, Peter Bedford Housing Association and Refugee Women’s Association, include:
• coaching and mentoring
• health and well-being
• interview workshops
• CV writing and job applications
• computer skills
• work placements
• qualification in playwork.
Create Your Future Programme Co-ordinator, Maxine Collins, said:
'We want unemployed BAME women to benefit from our holistically designed programmes that will offer a chance to gain independence, increase confidence, explore career options, build networks and work towards career aspirations'.
