Hackney CVS is co-ordinating Hackney iCare - the online resource for Hackney residents and professionals. It features details about health and wellbeing services across the borough. During the pilot, Hackney CVS will improve the site in a number of key areas. Since the initiative started in late November 2015, progress has been made on:
• Updating the content of the iCare directory
• Improving the functionality of the iCare directory
• Developing professionals’ understanding of how iCare works
• Marketing, communications and engagement about iCare
• Writing recommendations about future development of iCare
How iCare helps local residents
iCare lists services provided by local voluntary organisations as well as statutory services, bringing together diverse services including:
• exercise classes
• community centres
• healthcare and
• social activities
Hackney iCare gives residents and professionals a huge online resource with details about health and wellbeing services available locally. iCare is aimed at Hackney residents – as well as their carers, professionals, family and friends - who may feel isolated and want to find out more about the local services.
Key features of iCare include:
• Directory of services
• Options to build wellbeing plans
• Translations into other languages
Mark Drinkwater, iCare Programme Coordinator, says: “Hackney iCare is a great resource for local residents, who can complete an online referral form to help establish their level of need for social care. They can also build a Wellbeing Plan online, identifying their health and wellbeing goals and identifying a shortlist of appropriate services. The iCare website gets over 12,000 views a month, so I would urge local organisations to contact us with their up-to-date details.”
